Early on in life when I was deep in the trenches of the traditional education system, I recognized that I was not being trained to be exceptional but to study for the sake of test-taking and following an outdated formula.
I noticed that many people were unhappy, unhealthy, and just in general floating through life with no real regard to a deeper purpose or richer experience available to all of us.
I didn’t want that. I wanted to be wildly successful.
So I took matters into my own hands.
I camped out at the library and began reading every biography I could get my hands to study what successful people did, particularly in the area of music as my big dream was to become a pop star.
I read about the Beatles, Elvis, Michael Jackson. I’d glue myself to VH1’s “Behind the Music” to uncover the mystery as to what propelled their massive successes.
Nothing seemed out of reach. As far as I could tell, most stars were in the right place at the right time with the right sound. I could do it too, right?
As high school progressed I slowly talked myself out of my dream as the “successful” path laid before me was to go to college and enter the workforce.
Sadly, it wasn’t until AFTER college when I became a student of entrepreneurship and financial management.
Now 15 years post-bachelors degree, I have had some good success with both building businesses and multiplying our money. James and I have seen many dreams to fruition including building two 7-figure businesses, debt freedom, extensive world travel, raising our babes in a dreamy community.
And our next chapter? Complete financial freedom. Abundant time and resources. Nothing holding us back from living the life of our wildest dreams. Creating our art. Writing more books. World-schooling our children.
I want to take you on a journey with me to do the same; to break free from “middle class mediocrity.”
I’m changing the situation in my own family and following my dreams with more focus and intensity than ever before.
Most schools in the world fail to teach us how to manage our finances with the goal of wealth (not just getting by). They also fail to teach the basic principles of running a business, leading a team, and just in general living healthy, happy lives.
I’m on a mission to change that.
The choices we make today will create our tomorrow. It’s time to choose what you really want and what you want to leave as a legacy!
Legacy is not just about passing along wealth and riches; it is about passing along values, skills, culture, philosophy, and the necessary resources to thrive for generations to come.
We live in a culture that encourages us to stay within an acceptable average called “the norm.” It’s not news that the average education and cultural mind-set encourages conformity rather than ingenuity.
It’s time to make a shift. A shift from a model of mediocrity, generated by societal norms, to a new paradigm of sustainable success. A shift from living on autopilot and just getting by to finding out what we are truly
capable of, so we can thrive together, living and prospering at our full potential.
Here are a few differences:
MEDIOCRE LIVING
Struggles from day to day
Spends as if there were no tomorrow
Never sure what she or he wants
Worries about the future
Procrastinates when it comes to dreams
Avoids failure
Takes what comes
Clocks out at the end of the day
Perceives others as potential threats
Lives for a better day
Remains unfulfilled
Job seeker
SUSTAINABLE SUCCESS
Thrives in the moment
Invests in the future
Has clarity of vision
Lives for today
Takes decisive action
Banks on success
Does whatever it takes
Commits to persevering
Connects well with others
Enjoys the journey
Follows own heart
Seeks fulfillment
Attaining financial freedom is a life lived on your terms and should be a powerful motivator. A life of impact. A life of growth. That motivation should be the driving force behind many of the most important financial decisions you make.

P.S. I’m not against traditional education. We just dropped my oldest off at kindergarten this morning (cue the tears!) She is in amazing hands and so excited for this chapter of her life. We will equip our kiddos with whatever they need to thrive in their life season and for her that is a loving school environment right now.
